Digital Series: Singular Source - David Bernie
I aspire to create through the inspirations that surround me – from thoughts to visuals. I capture images with cameras, document thoughts with a pen & paper, create visuals with colors and textures, and illustrate my life through the medium of art. I am an indigenous (Yankton Sioux – Ihanktonwan Dakota) contemporary artist. I am David Bernie.

Digital Series: Singular Source

San Diego, CA | Nikon D7000 | f/1.8 | ISO1600

This project includes scenes with one light source and documenting the influence that particular source has on its environment.

This series comprises of images with street lights as the primary lighting. The height of the street lights, and shooting in landscape format, required me to step back and to photograph a wider view; which in turn allowed me capture more of the surroundings.

I chose side streets as lighting was minimal. Most of the intersections had one street light – no stop lights, no business signs, or advertising billboards. Several images do show the influence of the downtown lighting highlighting the background. The night felt slightly muggy which I suspect for the soft and glowing lights.
